A Special Message
Over the past year (2003), the Stewardship Board has commented on Biblical references to stewardship as applied to sharing of our God-given treasures. These references are in the form of a bookmark now being distributed to the congregation.
There is an additional non-Biblical definition of stewardship I would like to share with you. I'm not certain where I read it or who the author is but it goes like this:
"Stewardship is everything you do in life after you say I believe."
To me, this means how one treats their spouse, their children and other family members. Are you honest in your business dealings? Do you conduct your business with integrity? Do you give your employer 40 hours worth of work for 40 hours pay? Do you take good care of your house and yard? Do you participate in the care and safety of your community? Do you do the little things as well, like picking up that empty drink cup in the parking lot on your way into the market? Are you a fervent spokesperson for Christianity with young people especially including other children as well as your own? To me, all of these are acts of stewardship in God's world.
What do you think?
